My grandparents, Harry and Daisy Buck,
ran this pub before and during the second world war. My mother, their
youngest daughter, remembers that The Man of the World did not have a
spirits licence, meaning it only sold beer. The pub was struck twice with
incendiary bombs during the war and had the roof burned off. It also
suffered structural damage from other bombing. After the second burning of
the roof the family left and moved to
The Lord Stanley. |
