The Brewery Tap was situated on the High Street. |

I started work at Ciba (ARL) Ltd, Duxford in 1960 and began to accompany
three of my colleagues for lunch on Fridays at a delightful ‘olde-world’ pub
called The Greyhound’ in Whittlesford. It was situated just off the High St
on the north side, I guess where Vicarage Lane or Maynards now are. The
first time I went I was rather amazed that my colleagues ordered sandwiches
with a pot of tea ! I wondered if this was some sort of local custom ! On a
later occasion the (very nice) barmaid vouchsafed that she thought it as odd
as I did ! There was another pub off the High Street at the west end,
north side, called The Brewery Tap. Only went there once; beer was off, pub
lacked atmosphere and the barman was a surly East European. |
