Queen Adelaide

The Queen Adelaide was situated on Meldreth Road. This pub closed in 1956.

I lived opposite this pub from birth in 1945 until i move from home cottages to bridge street in whaddon. i had my first taste of beer outside here when my dad let me taste his pint,i hated it which made him laugh but i was only about 6 or 7 and i grew to like the taste .I remember the landlord at the time was Harold Pepper and i think he had a daughter called Ethel. I remember being told a story about a notch carved in the wooden bar top.
