The Crown was situated at 108-110 High Street. A 17th century grade-II listed pub which closed in 1958.

My family lived here & ran the Crown Pub from 1933 to 1935. My grandfather, Percy Banks was the landlord along with my grandmother, Clara. They had 4 children, plus another was born here in 1934. My dad said hardly anyone came into the pub at this time during 1930s depression. My grandfather made extra money renovating old radio sets & charging accumulators.
