The Fountain was called the Glass Onion for around 4 years or more. This pub
was purchased by Roger Payn who lived in the house next door at the time.
The pub had a bad reputation and caused a lot of noise, so he bought it! The
pub was then renamed by his then young son Luke after a Beatles song. The
pub was run for a long time as a music and arts community centre and hosted
a lot of live music events and art exhibitions. Roger still owns the pub and
leases it to Nick, who runs the Rose/Embe. |
