The Queens Head was situated on Cowling Road. This grade-II listed pub closed in 1999.
Listed building details:
Inn, mid C16 with C19 flint gable extension to east. Painted date 1558 on modern plaster. Timber framed and plastered; flint with red brick dressings. Modern interlocking tile roof half hipped to east. Two rebuilt stacks. Two storeys. Original three unit plan with later rear wing and timber framed extension to north. Three first floor and six ground floor casement windows, two with iron glazing bars. Two, panelled doors. Interior has exposed wall frames and floor frame of substantial timbers. Large inglenook hearth with oak stair in original position.
