The Royal Oak was situated on Station
Road. This 18th century public house (Circa 1709) was closed in 1975
and had a change of use approved in 1976 from licensed premises to a
residential dwelling. In 1981 the building had a change of use approved from
a single dwelling into two dwellings. |

I owned the house (18a) from 1985 until
1995. The place has a weird soul - I was the second owner to have it
repossessed. Additionally one previous owner had lost the plot. As for the
other half two owners had thier spouses die! Whilst my daughter came along
in that period my first partner had a breakdown there and my second one left
me to have an affair. Makes you wonder if the old lady who told me , on the
day I moved in , that the place is unlucky was right ! |
