The Wheatsheaf

Wheatsheaf, Christchurch

The Wheatsheaf was situated on Sixteen Foot Bank. The publican in 1916 was William Randall.

William Randall was my great grandfather on my mothers side and he was also a Master Blacksmith. His forge was located in the small building at the back of the pub and I recently visited the present owners who have now put it back to being one building as  previous occupants had split it into two houses. I also presented them with a horseshoe which had been made in the smithy many years ago and as my mother had passed away I thought it would be appropriate to take it back to where it was made. The present owners have put a sign on the side of the property, words are "The Old Wheatsheaf "
