The Wheatsheaf was situated on Sixteen Foot
Bank. The publican in 1916 was William Randall. |
|
William Randall was my great grandfather on my mothers side and he was also
a Master Blacksmith. His forge was located in the small building at the back
of the pub and I recently visited the present owners who have now put it
back to being one building as previous occupants had split it into two
houses. I also presented them with a horseshoe which had been made in the
smithy many years ago and as my mother had passed away I thought it would be
appropriate to take it back to where it was made. The present owners have
put a sign on the side of the property, words are "The Old Wheatsheaf " |
