The Brambles Farm pub and hotel was situated at
the corner of Cargo Fleet Lane and Longlands Road. This pub closed in 2015
and was demolished in the Autumn 2017. An Esso fuel station now stands on
the site. |

This pub was a very busy and was one of
the top properties in the Teesside area owned by Scottish & Newcastle
Breweries, in terms of annual turnover. At that time during the 1960’s I
knew the landlord Eddie Murphy who was a friend of my father. He had a wife
Vera and two children. Eddie had been a professional footballer playing as a
full-back for Blackburn Rovers and later moved from the Brambles Farm to the
The Thorntree on the Greenway not too far away. The landlord who took over
from Eddie when he left was from the Newcastle area but his name evades me
for the present. |
