The Generous Pioneer was situated on
Ilkley Road. This pub closed in 2022 and has now been demolished. It
was only built around 1998 on the site of a former petrol station.
It was, initially, part of the Tom Cobleigh chain and was subsequently
acquired by Greene King and was a carvery pub with a kiddies ball pool and
play area. It's closure was sudden and quite a shock, as it was not notably
underpatronised and was popular with the community as an eaterie and as a
"local". Old People's flats and a Nursing Home now occupy the site. |
