The Royal Oak  was situated on Gorwell Street and is now trading as Royal Oak Interiors. Purchased by the Weller Brewery in 1848, it was a Benskin's pub at time of closure c2000, since when it has been an antique shop.

Pauline Brain 1950s my mum ran the Royal Oak in the mid 50s. She was kat and her partner was ernie everall. I used to go there in schoolholidays and at weekends.
