Does anyone remember Maggie the
Scottish barmaid at the Lemington? She lived there for a long time in the
1960s. I have often thought what happened to her, she was very popular.
There was a very busy lunch trade in the 60s as well as the evening. The
last owners I remember were a young Scottish couple about 1968, cannot now
remember their name. Charring tons brewery owned the pub and the boss would
sometimes help in the pub and upset all the customers. Toby and best bitter
was the most popular drink about 2 shillings and sixpence a pint. You could
hear the trains passing behind the pub at Acton mainline station. |

I can remember this as a very Irish pub with a
very Charrington’s oak panelled bar. It’s closure meant that there was
nowhere for a drink between the town centre and Gipsy Corner. |
