The Albert was situated at 11 Princess Road. was sold by Punch Taverns to
TXL Capital (BVI based shell company) in February 2014 and it was closed for
'refurbishments' in January 2015.
It has never re-opened to date. The offshore company successfully gained
planning permission to convert the upper floors staff accomodation into
luxury flats but lost a bid to build over the pub's garden with a luxury
house. The pub is hugely missed by the community and before it was bought by
these investors it had been a viable business supporting local employment
and the family who ran it. |
