Royal Standard

The Royal Standard was situated at 161-165 Kingsland Road.  This was a modern estate pub which closed in the late 2000s, at which time it was known as the Korsan Bar.

It has now been demolished.

This pub, opposite the Geffrye Museum, had been a good little local, despite the ugly brick box of a design. We recall them being particularly welcoming to a group of people with learning difficulties who lived in sheltered housing nearby. It is now a block of flats.

L Millhouse 1966 The first pub that I went to after leaving home in 1966, first taste of London beer, they had a mellotron keyboard in the bar. I played this and annoyed many! I lived at Crossbow house not far away, many happy memories, any pub users at that time get in touch, it was a different .and magic place back then|
