The Braunstone was situated on Narborough Road. This pub closed in 2001 and is now used as a branch of KFC.
Back in the 90s my stepson and I went to a gig at the Braunstone by jazz guitarist Herb Ellis. Quite how a world famous performer ended up giving a concert in the back room of a Leicester pub we'll never know. The room was not full. We got front row seats within touching distance. Brilliant!
