Punch Bowl Inn

The Punch Bowl Inn was situated on Longridge Road. In the 1960's this highly popular eating establishment was known for several miles as the place to be. It is perhaps most famous for it landlord Jonathan Brisco who became friends with Highway Man 'Ned King'. From 1839-1841 Jonathan tipped Ned which of the customers staying at the inn would be the most rewarding for his highway robberies. This pub closed in 2012 and was subsequently demolished.

The council have ordered the pub to be rebuilt as the owner did not have demolition permission.

David Brown 1976/1985 Today this Inn has been demolished such a shame. Wonderful history, listed building. I held the license for 12yrs and it has been left to go into disrepair
Andrew Tipton 1992/1997 I worked there, used to lived at 11 the Dene and walked to work for each shift. It was such a great place, many staff and always, always, a element of doubt with new King. I understand he was hung at gallows Lane, the last hanging in the uk. This place is so special, surely its not been demolished? The minstrels gallery was unique, you could look over the whole of the restaurant and it had so many little hidden places. Rebuild deffo!
