This pub was present
by the 1850s when an Elizabeth Barnett was landlady and it was known as The
Victoria Arms. The name change to The Engineers Arms appears to have taken
place in the 1870s when a J Masters was landlord and also an engine driver.
It became a Welsh’s Lion Brewery pub in July 1876, later being sold to
Scrase’s Star Brewery for £ 500, subsequently becoming a Strong’s Romsey
Brewery pub and in 1969 a Whitbread’s Brewery pub. It closed in 1982. |
