The Beacon was situated at 201 Oxlow Lane. This closed in January 2012 and is being refurbished as a Tescos store.
I used to be a barman here in the early 70's when I was 18 or 19. I can't remember the name of the publican at the time but after closing while we were clearing up, he would go round and collect up all the slops in a bucket and put it back in the bitter barrel.
