It started life as the Bowling Green, first mentioned in 1764. In those days, there were pleasure grounds to the rear, where travelling fairs and circuses were held. It was a mid-terraced pub located next door to the Tiviot Hotel, a Robinsons house. In the 1860s, Tiviot Dale Station opened. It took 30 years, but the pub was eventually renamed the Station Hotel in 1895. The Wilson’s Brewery house was given a major overhaul in the 1970s and renamed ‘Inn with a Chance’. The makeover ultimately did not prevent its closure just a few years later. It was demolished around 1982, after part of the frontage collapsed. The area remains undeveloped and is currently a car park, along with the site of the neighbouring Tiviot Hotel.
