The Cross Inn was situated at 4-6
High Road. This grade-II listed pub closed in 2005 and has now been converted into two
private houses. |

building details: |
Date plaque to No 4: GJ 1792. Red
brick; No 6 has since been colourwashed. Two storey and attics. Two hipped
dormers, with Yorkshire casements with glazing bars. Old clay tile roof.
Modillioned eaves. Right-hand modern casement; 3 sash windows with glazing
bars. No 6 also has full height canted bay with 3 sashes - 3 panes in width.
No 4 has 6-panel door (the top 4 fielded) between
panelled reveals and beneath a carved and pedimented hood which is supported
on shaped and carved modillions. No 6 has two 6-panel doors under flat
doorhoods. |
