The Tap & Barrell was situated at 42 Waingate. This pub opened in the 1790s as  The Bull & Mouth, later renamed The Tap & Spile", before The Tap and Barrell. It closed on the 4th July 2023, possibly as result of the demolition of Castle Market and ongoing archaeological and development work.
