The Travellers Rest was situated at 525 City
Road. This pub closed c2006. The pub is now a "Select and Save" convenience
store, but the name "Traveller's Rest" is still visible on a pediment at the
top of the building. One-time Publican was John Woodhouse, shown on Census
from 1861-1891. His father William Woodhouse was listed as publican in the
Sheffield Directories for 1853. John died in 1893 and the licence was taken
over briefly by his Grandson Henry Hepplestone until early 1901, from whence
it was taken over by an Alfred Mirfin. |
