Peter Malcolm   When I became 18,my father Alexander Malcom, took me in this pub. He pointed out the swinging sign depicting queen Matilda, the wife of Alexander King of Scots, from whom we are descended. I was dismayed to see,on a recent visit to Sheffield, that the pub is in a decrepit condition and the sign is somewhat mutilated. Nevertheless i would be delighted to buy the sign and restore it to its former elegance. I would consider buying the pub and the cobbled courtyard to boot if it was safe from a demolition order and would help to restore it as a working tavern or as a museum of latter day taverns.
