The Springwood was situated on Hastilar Road South.

I attended Richmond College, Sheffield from 1979 to 1980 when I gained a place on the Pre Entry National Council For The Training Of Journalists Press Photography course. This was the only course of it's kind in the U.K and Sheffield became the place in 1979 after moving from Wednesbury in the West Midlands. There were only 12 places on the course and lunchtimes we would walked down the hill to the Springwood for food and a pint....this was good training for my 36 years career in press photography. Happy memories of Sheffield. Lived in Eccelshall walked to town...caught bus to Richmond
