The Belvedere

The Belvedere was situated on Moorgate Road. Built in 1858, this pub closed in 2010.

I spent around 18 months in Rotherham, lived with the Peat family on Tooker Rd whilst studying Milling Engineering at the Hovis Mills on Canclow rd., during reconstruction. Many a time Mike Peat, friends and I would spend an evening pint at the Belvedere Hotel . One day having had lunch and a pint there, on leaving the belvedere, I slipped on ice on the step. I broke my ankle and being off for about six weeks had some explaining to my superiors back in Ballarat Australia. You can imagine also the remarks
enscribed on my plaster cast.
