The Star was situated on Southfield Road. The watering hole frequented by locals, students and staff of Constantine College/Teesside Poly/Teesside University is to be demolished. Surprise, surprise. Being slap bang in the middle of Southfield Road, a mid-Campus thoroughfare which the University successfully applied to be closed a few years ago, was purchased by the Uni last year. The writing was on the wall from the time the road was closed. The original “Sir Basil Spence Partnership” vision for the Teesside Poly Campus was to have 1st-floor bridges from the old Library/Clarendon across to the Students’ Union.
