The Old Red Lion was situated on York Road.  This pub closed in 2021, following police campaign for the licence to be revoked because of anti-social behaviour around the pub. This was against local opposition who regarded the pub as a life-line. McDonald's submitted an application to demolish the 260-year-old building and replace it with a McDonald's Restaurant with Drive Thru. It suffered an arson attack prior to submission of the planning application, but that was refused by Leeds City Council on 30 May 2024, with a revised application later submitted.
