The Mainbrace was situated on Beverley Road and has now been converted to student accommodation.

A friend of mine studied at Hull Uni in the eighties. His local was the Mainbrace on Beverley road. This was also the local of the Housemartins, including Paul Heaton (Beautiful South) and Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), who lived on nearby Grafton Street. They would often be seen huddled around a table pretending nobody recognised them.
