My mother and I lived at 7 Brighton Terrace, Hopwood Street
(1942-1955). I recall c1950 the pub reopened and, as part of that event,
treated all the kids on Hopwood Street to a day out (by steam train!) in
Withernsea. When I was 15. My grandmother was in the 'snuck'(Sp.) which was
close to the front door, with one or two others enjoying a casual drink. I
wasn't allowed in but I did manage to order Guinness for her. :-) |
