My mam and dad, Eunice and Tom Middleton, ran
the pub for a few years during my childhood in the 1960’s. Great times as a
kid living there, no ghosts, just rosy times and the odd scrap heard as a
child drifting off to sleep. |

My father Wally Utting was the landlord along with his wife
Olive from November 1966 until he retired in March 1976. The brewery
decided to close the doors of “The Cromwell” at the same time. I lived
there until I married in 1973. It was a very popular, lively public house.
Many good times spent there by the regulars until it was closed and later
demolished. |

My aunt and uncle Mary and Howard White were
landlord and landlady from 1952 to 1959. |
