Queen Hotel

The Queen Hotel was situated at 53 Daisy Hill Lane. This has now been converted into a private house. There was a function room upstairs where music was played; customers could bring in their own records.

I drank here with several friends 1962-3 on Sunday evenings. We used the upstairs room, served by the Licensee, Mr Frank Lee, who later went on to take over the Reservoir in Allerton Road from his parents. Both pubs were Samuel Websters houses at the time.

Stuart Hirst 1968/1994 My father was the licensee of this Webster's House and I lived and worked there during most of the above period. I have several photographs of the exterior and many of the interior and customers from that time. It was a very busy pub, and for a few years had a very successful football team and of course was noted for it's Upstairs Bar which catered for 'the younger end'.
David Busby 1963/1965 I was the son of Gerald Busby, the MD of The Manningham Lane department store, Busbys. We lived at Crow Trees, the house at the cross roads of Daisy Hill Lane, Crow Tree Lane, Duckworth Lane and Pearson Lane. It was a very lively pub in those days run by a couple who went on to run the Ring o’ Bells, above Allerton. Their son ran The Reservoir pub, near Chellow Dean, now gone I believe.
