The Oakleigh Hotel was situated at 4 Oak Avenue. This pub is now used as an Islamic cultural centre.

This was a favourite haunt of Bradford Grammar School’s more errant pupils. I recall vividly one occasion at the end of term in 1989/1990 when Tony Moxon (History Master, now sadly RIP) was retiring. We piled into the Oakleigh with him. Unbeknown to him, we had collected a whip round and booked a stripper. The world’s oldest Wonder Woman turned up and stripped for him. We thought it was hilarious but I recall he was furious. Sorry Mr Moxon.
