The Black Swan was situated at 74
Frizinghall Road. This was a traditional pub known locally as "The Mucky
Duck". It had one large 'U' shaped room with black painted beams, brass and
copperware. It was a 18th century house with early 19th century wing and
later alterations. It has operated as a pub since the 1890s.
The pub closed on 2 April 2023 and alternative uses are being sought for the
building. It was the last pub in the Heaton - Frizinghall area and is a
listed building. |
