Tim Cranston 1972-1976  I used to go in the Upper Globe, once I had turned 18! It was the best pub in the area, and seeing as I only lived just up the road it was very convenient. I remember the landlord was, I believe, an ex policeman, as such he was very strict about dress code etc.... It was one of the first places where I heard "Benny & The Jets" by Elton John, I still think of the Upper Globe every time I hear it. All gone now, shame to see the Upper globe in the sad state it is in now. I also believe there was a couple of murders in that pub, long after I stopped going and the incumbent landlord of my time had moved onto a place in, I believe, Halifax.
Shelly Lamb 1986-1989 I used to go in there a lot then I started working there. The landlord was an Asian chap who also had another pub near lister Park. I worked with his 2 sons they were a lovley familly. I worked with a man called John who was a real letch. Urgh I shudder even now just thinking about him. Anyway I loved going in. I used to have some laughs.
