The Lower Globe was situated
at
3 Globe Fold, Whetley Hill
and was closed in 2001 after being burnt out in the Bradford riots. Now
demolished and site cleared. Present by 1822 when it was known as The Old
Globe and the publican was John Jarrett. |

The pub was burnt out in the Bradford Riots (2001) although it was derelict
at the time. I recall going in to the pub (I only went in the once) in the
1990s and being told how the pub was burned out in a previous riot by petrol
bombs being thrown through the window. Fortunately customers then managed
to leave by the back entrance. |

The site is not completely cleared - the back wall of the
gents toilet and parts of the urninals are still visible! |
