The Carlton Hotel was situated at 1
North Avenue. This pub is now used as a charity
called Beacon Recovery. It can be seen in the 1990 documentary "The Hostel"
about child refugees staying there in 1939, who returned to the building in
that documentary:

Mr. and Mrs. Broadbent were the
owners of the "Carlton Hotel" in Bradford. My first stay was 5 days,
13.01.1970 - 18.01.1970. In total 27 days, with 9 visits, Last was 2
days on 05.02.1974 - 07.02.1974. - 4 years of friendship. I felt
very familiar with Mrs. and Mr. Broadbent, after closing time in the Bar
we came very late to bed due to non ending drinks. |
