The old Red Ginn was believed to date
back to the 17th century and was on the site of a former farm. It was
demolished in 1968.
The new Red Ginn, also on Bowling Old Lane, opened at the end of the 1960s
and later became The Newby Square. In 2008 the pub was firebombed twice
during a period of disturbances in the area. January 2016 saw a drunken
brawl at The Newby Square involving a crowd of one hundred after which the
pub was closed down. This pub was present by 1822 when the publican was John
MItchell. |
