The Woodman Inn was situated on the
corner of George
Street and Great Cross Street. Present by 1852 when it was known as The East
Brook Hotel. Now demolished, a Premier Inn has been built on the site. |

I believe that this pub closed at the end of
1937 and the landlady was my grandmother Mary Ellen Foxcroft. She was asked
to take it on b Bentleys as it was due to be closed and she then moved to
Great Northern Hotel Laisterdyke on 8th January 1940 |
