The Greyhound was a 17th/18th century
coaching inn situated on Northgate.
The Greyhound building was demolished in the 1890s and the site redeveloped.
The current building contains a closed discount store. The fact that The
Greyhound stood on the site is commemorated by the statue of a greyhound
from the original inn appearing high up on the wall of the building that
replaced it. Desite being a greyhound it is painted to be a dalmatian. |
