The Church Steps Inn was situated on Church
Bank. This pub was demolished pre-1886. Said to be the oldest licensed house
in Bradford, the Church Steps Inn was demolished in the 1880s to make way
for the 1886 Forster Square Post Office. The Inn was home to the members of
the “Church Steps Society” (of Bishop Blaise) who met there every 3 February
long after 1825, when the last of the festivals of St Blaise, the patron
saint of woolcombers and Bradford was held. |
