Star Inn

The Star Inn was situated at 1 Havelock Square. Grade II Listed, the 1820 Star Inn was known as the Coffin End. In the 1950s part of the pub was converted for residential use and it then had one room on each of the three storeys plus a basement. There used to be a hut with a cellar nearby, which was used for drunks until they had sobered up. One of the owners was transported to Australia for stealing 10 shillings. The last landlord was Mr Collins.
