The Old Kings Head was situated on Main
Street. This pub dates back to 1792 when the stagecoach from Leeds to Kendal
stopped at the old coaching inn. When the pub was being demolished in 1972 a
gravestone dated 1795 with five names of the Whitely family was discovered
beneath the tap room. |
