The Shorthorn Inn was situated on Hornby Road. This pub, with a reputation for serving "the best Sunday Dinners around", closed on 20 December 2018 because of poor trade. Planning permission had been granted in 2016 for demolition and the building of 11 homes on the site. However, following closure, a further application to build 4 homes was initially rejected, then approved in 2023. Latterly, an application has been made to convert the property into a single 5-bedroom home and make a huge garden of the car park.
