The George Inn was situated on Slob Lane (now St Marys Lane). This pub is now in residential use.

As kids on Boxing Day we would all go to The George St Marys lane to see the local Hunt meet, where they had their Stirrup Cup served on trays from the George, It was great to see all the horses and riders in their Hunting Pink very colourful.
