Elm Tree Hotel

The Elm Tree Hotel was situated on Long Street. The pub closed in 2009 and was sold by the brewery Wadworth & Co in 2010 after they had tried to let it without any interest being shown. The Elm Tree is thought to be one of the oldest continuously licensed buildings in England, dating back to 1512. It was originally called The Salutation but changed its name to The Elm Tree in 1766. In more recent years it has served as a restaurant.
