The Malt Shovel was situated at 140-144 High Street. This grade-II listed pub underwent several changes of name including the Snooty Fox 1978-93, Rosie O’Brien’s 1993-2004 and from 2012 it was finally the Missoula. It closed in March 2018.

C17. Timber frame roughcast and colour washed. Machine tiled roof. 2 storeys, 2, formerly 3, early C19 ground floor canted bay windows. 3 1st floor casement windows. Carriageway on right. VCH, IV, p 215.
