Temple Bar

The Temple Bar was situated on Lower Temple Street. This pub closed in 1999 and was converted to a shop.
I have great memories of this pub as my aunt and her husband, Geoff and Clarrie Shepherd, were the landlord and landlady back in the 1960’s. My nan used to take us there on a Saturday morning to help out downstairs.

Worked for Birmingham Council, City Treasures Dept. 1970. Used the pub at lunchtimes because they did great pub grub, Hotpot for 2 shillings! Beer was ok too.

June Shone 1960 My father in law Jan Stasica ran this bar until 1960, I worked there part time.
Mick Ludden 1964-1966 I used to hang out in the downstairs bar every night after work (at Bush House Housing Department). My drinking pal was Rick Connolly from Smethwick but there were a fair few other regulars who drifted in and out (John Haynes, Rod Pitt...) and we would eventually head off to somewhere like Yate's Wine Lodge. Happy days but not very productive in terms of successful liaisons with ladies!
John Haddock 1970 Met a girl who drank port and lemon we went out for a short time. She bought me a gold colored lighter in the shape of a harp nice girl we went to a concert at the town hall i think it was the rolling stones
