The Bat & Ball was situated on Lewes Road. This
former coaching inn closed in the 1960s. |

I lived in the Bat and Ball from about 1941 to 1945. My father evacuated
his family out of Eastbourne during those years. I say “about”, as I was
only two at the beginning of the war!! Seven at the end, so memory really
only begins around 1943. |
