The Mainline Tavern was situated on Whyke Road.
Known for most of its long existence as The New Inn, it was a Gales tied
house. This pub closed when a new pub of the same
name was built to the right of
the original building in the above photo. It became a private house, with
the address of 33 Whyke Road, with a small business at the rear, which made
small wooden items such as deck chairs and tables. Eventually demolished to
make way for a small housing estate. |
