The Five Oak Inn was situated on Stane Street.  This pub was closed many years ago and demolished. A small part of the site was incorporated into road improvements and the rest occupied by a large car sales yard. The post from the hanging sign remained un-moved for a long time in the centre of a mini roundabout which the road alterations created but eventually it was removed, probably as a result of a traffic accident. Whilst still in situ it gained a 'Five Oaks hamlet' sign which is/was recorded by the Village Sign Society
